About the bearing life calculator
Estimate rolling-element bearing L10 life from catalog dynamic load rating, equivalent operating load, bearing type, and speed using the ISO 281 basic rating life equation.
How it works
L10 = (C/P)^p × 10⁶ revolutions, where p is 3 for ball bearings and 10/3 for roller bearings. Hours are derived by dividing total revolutions by RPM × 60. C and P must use the same force unit as the manufacturer's catalog.
About equivalent load P
P combines radial and axial loads per ISO 281. This tool assumes you have already computed P from your load case — it does not calculate P from separate Fr and Fa inputs.
Limitations
L10 is a population statistic, not a warranty for an individual bearing. The basic rating life model ignores lubrication condition, contamination, mounting accuracy, temperature, and load spectrum variation. Modified life (aISO) and reliability factors beyond L10 are not included.
